Can You Listen to Music?
I could listen to music in 1994, when I was using a text console. Now things are
just fancier.
XMMS is an extensible, themeable
multimedia player. Most of my music is in
Ogg Vorbis and MPEG 2
Layer 3 (aka MP3) format. I leave the
KDE mixer running on the same virtual
desktop, although I tend to
use a remote control attached
to my
TV card to
operate
XMMS. The Hi-Fi-like
On-Screen Display helps there
(you can see it displaying the volume). The larger window is
the
BedroomLAN Jukebox, one of my pet
projects. It's in
alpha, so it's ugly but (barely) operational.
